Strategic planning is a process to define the vision, goals, and objectives for the coalition. This strategic plan was conducted in 2022 to inform the objectives and strategies for 2023-2026. 

Our focus areas are:

1. Mental health education and training
2. Systems change and advocacy
3. Trauma-informed care
4. Increase member engagement

Currently, meetings are held virtually on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 8 – 9:30 a.m. with no meetings in July or December.

Below are a list of trainings available through Mental Health Coalition members:

• Resiliency Screening: This foundational training introduces the concept of resilience in reducing the impact of trauma. Watch the film trailer here. 
• Trauma-Informed Care 101: Learn the importance and basics of trauma-informed care.
• QPR: Learn the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide; Question, Persuade Refer
• ACEs: Understand Adverse Childhood Experiences and how to incorporate this understanding into your work.
• WeCOPE: An evidence-based program that helps adults cope with life stress. 
• Youth/Adult Mental Health First Aid: Stand with your community and learn to identify, understand, and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge. 
• Self-Care and Healthy Boundaries: Learn the importance of self-care and how to implement self-care strategies into your daily routine. 
• School-Based Mental Health/What Parents Should Know about Mental Health: For educators and parents interested in learning more about youth mental health and strategies to help.
• WRAP: Wellness Recovery Action Plan is a simple and powerful process for creating the life and wellness you want.
• ASIST: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first-aid, which teaches participants to recognize people at risk of suicide and how to work with them to create a safety plan. 
• VA S.A.V.E. Training: This free, brief course will help you act with care and compassion if you come across a Veteran who is in crisis or having thoughts of suicide. 

If you are interested in any of these trainings or would like to request a training for yourself or a group, please fill out this survey to be contacted by coalition members for next steps. There is also an option to identify other trainings you would like. Please note: several trainings have requirements, but your survey submission will help inform what trainings our community wants. 

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Each May, we have an event to celebrate mental health.

 Save the date for our 2025 Mental Wellness Fair on Thursday, May 15th at Mueller Square. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention and to provide relevant resources to the community.
