Screening at the Justice Center
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office has personnel stationed at the main door to the Justice Center to conduct security screenings. Every person entering the Justice Center must go through the screening process each time they enter the building.
Our goal is to ensure the safety and security of all staff and visitors of the Justice Center.
Screening Process - What to expect
The screening process is similar to the screening process at the airport. When entering the building, you will need to empty your pockets and place all personal items (large jewelry, watches, belts, etc.) in a plastic bin or on the conveyor belt. Purses, briefcases, backpacks, coats, and other hand-carried items will need to be put on the conveyor belt for screening. These items will go through an X-ray machine. You will then proceed through a metal detector. If the detector sets off an alarm, you will go through a secondary screening by security personnel.
If you have medical concerns, discuss them with the screening officer.
Before leaving the security area, be sure to retrieve all of your items. The Sheriff's Office is not responsible for any items left behind at the screening station.
