Serving residents 60 years old or better

Wisconsin's Elder Benefit Specialists (EBSs) help people who are 60 or older by providing benefit counseling, assistance and advocacy about a variety of subjects including:

  • Public benefits

  • Housing and Utility programs

  • Health insurance

  • Consumer law

  • Income Support through Food Share and multiple Social Security programs

The EBS can provide current and accurate information on your benefits.  They may also have alternate ways to help secure benefits or appeal denials of benefits.  In addition, they can act as an advocate on your behalf with other parties, explain possible solutions, including legal action, and refer you to an appropriate attorney when necessary.

EBS staff stay current on changing guidelines and policies with support from GWaar's (Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources) Benefit Specialist Supervising Attorneys (BSSAs) who provide ongoing training and support in 65 Wisconsin counties.

Together, they help older adults find the services and support they need.
