Do you have the ability to stay calm in high stress situations and enjoy serving the public? If so, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center might have the job for you. We are looking for full-time Telecommunicators. Successful candidates will be at least 18 years old and have a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, experience in emergency services and/or education beyond high school graduation is preferred. Good typing, communication, and computer skills are essential in this role. Knowledge of two-way radio operation is preferred.
Our Telecommunicators answer emergency 911 and non-emergency calls from the public and use radios to communicate with Police, Fire, and EMS personnel. They collect and record essential data; enter data and make queries on the TIME System; maintain records; and compile and complete required reports. The ability to multiple task is essential as Telecommunicators manage multiple incidents and sources of information at once while hearing and accurately repeating complex information with concise brevity.
Starting salary for full-time positions is $23.09 hourly. Full-time Telecommunicators work 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule with every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. Shifts are 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am and are selected by seniority each year. Holiday and weekends are required and mandatory overtime may be required.
