Are you a driven go-getter who enjoys repairing and maintaining large equipment? If so, Monroe County’s Highway Department might have the job for you. We’re hiring for a full-time Highway Mechanic. Successful candidates will have graduated from high school and have a minimum of 3 years training or apprenticeship and experience in heavy equipment and truck repair and maintenance. A Wisconsin Class A for airbrake equipment and manual transmission qualified with a minimum of N (tanker) endorsement is desired or the ability to obtain within first year of employment. Our Highway Department will train the right candidate.
Our Highway Mechanic is responsible for servicing, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing all gasoline and diesel powered department equipment, trucks, and attachments. This position will perform work at multiple garage and field locations. Our Mechanics also utilize computer software systems, diagnostic tools, and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot equipment problems.
